The essence of running a contest in a community is to boost engagement and traffic in the forum. It can attract new members who would want to partake in the contest to win from the money prize pool and also prompt old members to contribute more in the community. I've seen where $500 was set aside for a community contest. It's the biggest I've seen in a very long time.

How much is the max you will run a contest with?

$500 is a prize pool I have never seen before but I guess if the contest holder can afford to use that, I say go for it!

I don't tend to run many contests myself but if I did, I would probably be in the range of $50 - $100 for a contest.

The only contest I have ever run had a prize pool of $50. I never ran a contest for the second time and I think at this moment, I cannot run a contest for more than $50 purse.
