What do you with staff members who just disappear from your forum, never to return in terms of firing them? How long do you wait before hitting the demote button?

I have had numerous situations where a staff member has done this. Most notably expressing great joy on becoming part of the forum and then disappearing a few days later without a word at all. I personally waited 3-5 days before doing so as he offered no explanation. How long would you wait?

The way i do it, if i made a member staff, it is because they post/visit the board on a fairly consistent basis. I understand that life happens and people get tied up in their projects and such, so i have a policy, if a staff member goes inactive for 45 days, I consider it voluntary retirement. Now if youre wondering why i allow for a great number of days like that it is because I am used to being on everyday.

Life happens, and if they can't be on for more than a month I'd move him/her to a retired staff group until he/she comes back on the forum.

Ban them?
Thats rude, you can actually demote them and hire a new one. but banning them won't be a good idea in my opinion. I mean they were a staff on your forum. So why do you choose to ban them ashimashi?

Sorry that came out wrong. Yes I did mean demote them. I don't know why I said banned. Sorry about that :)

I demote them if they don't post a lot or perform mod duties. Keeping the forum clean is important, and bottomline, if you're not doing your job, you shouldn't have the title.

I demote them if they've been inactive for at least a month and pm them saying if they get their shit together they can reclaim their title if they are lucky, or if they aren't doing their job I'll give them a warning. I'm too nice sometimes and say something twice, but once the third slip up comes STRIKE YOU'RE OUT! And if they are a friend I'll just boot them over to VIP, if they are assholes straight to members with you!
