If you are running a website, you really need to stand out from the crowd. If your website looks similar to other websites, it is really difficult to build traffic, activities, and revenue. As a forum owner, how do you stand out from the crowd. What makes your forum unique from other forums? Are your forums unique.

@Nomad the reality you cannot make a unique website because most of the websites are similar but what differs one website to another is quality of writing for example or graphics that decorate a website, which means from your thinking there is part of what you think is wrong.

Agreed. Uniqueness of your website is mainly related to your content and feature. But if you are operating on the same niche as other websites and using the same content management system, you will look identical twins. For example, look at most forums, they are so much similar.

I look for forums on topics that are similar to known profitable niches, but different. The parenting niche is a known profitable niche, but there is no online toy forum. You need to find unexploited topics.

Another idea is to find what your niche is missing or fix a problem in your niche. Bring something new into the space. For example, GothamChess and Fireship bring entertainment to the chess and programming spaces, spaces that are historically boring. They took an existing niche and improved on it. Another example: Amazon improving on the self-publishing space with POD, making it more accessible. Find a problem and fix it, and people will come to you.

The awful part is that people for example goes to take subjects from other forums and rediscuss them on others that doesn't add a new value to forums and subjects or themes are known, innovation is small and if someone talk about something new he will get propably less than 10 comments as the brand of subjects are same pratically.

Finding a problem and offering a solution is the best way to stand out from the crowd. You also need to find a niche and work into it, more specifically, you need to find micro niche. However, when you are working on micro niche, it will also be difficult to get customers.
