How do you prevent spam comments?

I allow people to comment on my articles. It helps make the site more interactive and it helps increase the time that people spend on the site. However, there are times when some would abuse the comment system and posy spam. I'm using WordPress for my sites and I've noticed that it's been receiving lots of comments that I don't even understand because they're in Chinese/Japanese.

What are your suggestions on how to prevent spam comments?

Enable Akismet and possibly a comment captcha. That should stop the majority of spam comments.

I think it is a good idea to use anti-spam plugin. I need to use such plugin in my blog, as my blog is getting attacked by spammers regularly.

Using an anti-spam plugin is always ideal for any kind of blog I feel. Akismet is one I would recommend and some kind of captcha for when guests post as well should help eliminate much of the spam you may receive.
