So how do you hire members of staff to your forum?

Do you use applications, community votes or delegate to team leaders?

Whats your method of hiring staff?

My method is to use applications because it looks professional and real life. In real life you have to send an application in, then have the interview. I usually have an interview process to determine the right person for the job. I don't think I would let the community chose because they might send the wrong person for the job and I want to make sure everyone gets a fair chance.

You can use freelancer sites like upwork to hire staff. You can also give job opportunity to your users, who you believe will be suitable for your job. Instead of full time, consider hiring virtual assistant.

I do not use any application / interview. I simply follow them to see what they post (if it is quality) and their activity. when I think it's worth it, I give them a private message and if they accept the moderator, I give it to them.

I think it depends on the job you wish to hire them for. If you want you can send out a vacancy and interview them or just review their past works.

To hire management staff, one has to be tentative and observant. If I should employ people to work with me, I will prefer the normal employment procedure which is submitting Application and it's one of the easiest means.

The process is very simple. You can simply go to other forums in your niche and place an adverts that you're looking for moderators for your new forum. Make sure you include attractive salary so that a lot of people can apply and you will be able to choose the best among them.

Find someone who is semi active and enjoys being on the forum and wants to help out. Other than that I go to bigger sites to find candidates, depending on what I need :D

I put out adverts and screen thoroughly through applications - the thing is that a lot of people would always claim to have an idea or know what to do.
Filtering them in that case would require going through their portfolio and then I can judge at least rightly.

I think that one of the easiest methods that you can use in order to do this is based on referrals in the forum and you can also look at how they are on the forum in order to try and recruit staff that way.

If you are running a community, and you want staff for your community, one of the easiest ways to do so is by hiring from your members. It is easier to judge your members based on quality posting and rule following
