I know of a small store beside a big supermarket. The small store concentrated on personal items and household items. They got more customers because the service is personal and the customers are immediately attended when they have a question on the product.Instead of focusing on wider area, you need to work on specific areas if you want to survive the competition from big business. If you are selling clothes, focus on selling kids clothes or plus size, instead of selling all kinds of clothes.
