The essence of having a forum is for you to have members who are willing to be committed in contributing contents on your platform on daily basis. This is why you have to have maximum respect for your members all the time.

In a situation whereby you have a particular member who have been very active but all of a sudden you end up losing that member, how do you usually feel about it? What will you do get him or her back?

It happens on forums all the time. Some people peace out and never come back, some sadly pass away and sometimes it doesn't get mentioned. I have talked with many forum members in my day, and most of them I have lost contact with, aside from a select few who are friends with me on social media.

It sucks to lose good members, but it happens. You eventually hope for new users to come in that become new forum friends.

I have left a forum in the past where I was one of most valuable members. I had over 40k messages posted in the community but I had to leave because of how one of the staff members treated me. Some of the members begged me to come back including the owner, but my decision was final.

As much as I do know this happens on forums and there will be a time that you will lose a valuable member, sometimes you have to accept that they either moved on because life changed for them or they just do not have time for the forum anymore.

This is something you need to understand isn't because you did anything wrong.

In the instance where it happened because of an incident on the forum, I would speak to the member and see whether you can work things out.

It's never easy losing a valuable member but sometimes, it's impossible to stop them from leaving no matter the issue.

Yeah, you're right life happening with someone and they wouldn't be able to keep up being active in forum. It happened with a friend of mine who was even a forum owner Ash on discussionhub.io. He even had to sell the forum. Tried to stay and contribute but couldn't either.

I have been posting on forums since 2015, I have not visited a lot of forums where I was really active for years. It is perfectly understood you cannot make everyone remain active for a lifetime (or let's say as long as your forum is running). Members on my forums come and go.

Members come and go in forum. In real life too, friends come and go. There's nothing permanent in whatever human beings are into. If you lose a valuable member, another member will replace the one who's gone. I don't stress myself over it.

I really get your point and it's something that is very understandable because as long as the forum is still very active, there will definitely be those who are going to step into the shoes of contributing more like the valuable member that have been lost. So there is already an existing pattern that is going to still replace the valuable member.

That's right. There is no way that you are going to force anyone to stay active on the forum. It is almost impossible. Even when you put incentive for them to come online, they will decide to not come online on your forum as long as they have some serious life issues that they are dealing with. I don't bother much when a member stops coming online as it maybe for one reason or another.

If you are using a forum for specific purpose and if your purpose is fulfilled, or the forum no longer serves your purpose, you might stop being active and this is perfectly undersood

Forums users can disappear from using the community at will. They can't be held against their will when they are no longer interested. Social media users are doing the same too. Forum projects are built on having more members, if one left, his presence won't be felt.
