Well, the sad part of internet: there is always someone to steal your work!
Nothing different in the case of themes also.
If someone rips your custom made theme and publishes it online, how do you feel?
What will be the steps you will be taking?

Well I have only just started using custom themes. So it may be a problem in the near future but before I was never in the position to have a free or premium theme ripped.

Well, anyone who's creating unique designs that are not really ugly will have to face this too. I had my designs stolen few times and was able to get the thieves to get them off their sites. Made some fuss, but it worked :)

This has happened to me before, but what's so bad about it is that it was my own good friends who did it! She basically just took my layout, replaced the colors and replaced the header! It was so annoying! And whenever I'd confront her about it, she'd feign ignorance!

And so, I pretty much just sent my site visitors to harass her site, in a way.

Sorry to say this but I always modified my themes from an existing design. I never had a problem with anyone...

Using it for personal blog / site won't go against free license unless you remove the copyright links, I believe.

Luckily I have not had to deal with this yet. We've had 2 custom themes now, and so far no reports of any ripping and I have checked several of the known sites and nothing has come up. I know however, I will probably eventually have to face it, and I am ready, and I know shady will have the wrath of god come down on whoever tries to steal his themes :p

I always removed that also, lol.
But thing is I generally modified the theme heavily so I guess nobody could say something about it even if they wanted.
