I wanted to host my custom domain site some weeks ago and i came across a site that offers free hosting to other site without paying a dime , i am quite scared of giving it a try because it looks suspicious to me , so i am asking if anyone have tried some thing like that, the site name is free hosting.io

I will never ever recommend free hosting to anyone.
Usually the service is bad and if your website is getting more traffic, then they will temporarily shut it down. It's just terrible. It's better to go with a paid hosting. As for usually free hosting services like wordpress.com or icyboards etc., you don't have to worry about the downtime too much.

So far, webs.com and 000webhost made me look for paid hosting. I will never recommend those two to anyone.

I haven't tried such service before now.

Most of the time, to lure the customers initially, people offer free stuff. Once you get things going, they will try to takeaway couple of resources from the allocated stuff. Then you will be forced to upgrade your account to a paid account as you wouldn't want to lose anything and face downtime. That's how it is for me. So, I have stopped believing in free stuff.

I think I've not seen anyone offering you to pay for anything the only one I have seen you do is when you register on bloggers were you ask you to buy a custom domain ,you don't need to upgrade it's your choice to do so

Well, let me share some details about my experience then.

When I have started learning about HTML and CSS, I made a free website with webs.com. Initially, it's working fine and after like 6 months or so, I was facing 'This website is down. Kindly contact our help desk' message a lot. I got confused and raised a support ticket with webs team. I was told that my website got too much traffic and they had to take it down for the sake of other websites, which are using the same shared hosting. Then, I was asked to upgrade my account.

As I have never used a credit card before, I switched to co.nf provider. Initially it's fine and later I got 503 error. When I contacted the support, they told me I will have to upgrade to a basic account.
I switched to 000webhost and this time, I used a forum software(myBB). After a while, the same thing happened. I told them, I need at least the database files to move my forum elsewhere and they told me to upgrade the account to get that information.

Finally, I switched to GoDaddy hosting and it's a paid hosting account. Even now sometimes I get the 503 error but most of the time it works fine. After all this, I have stopped believing in free stuff.

There are many free hosting services that are legitimate and are good enough if you can't afford paid hosting. However, I would recommend not using them if you're serious about your project especially if it is for a business. Free hosting sites are not always reliable and they are able to delete your site at any time. If you really do want to go with one, I would recommend using X10Hosting. Stay away from 000webhost, they are awful!

Wow I never knew you have tried so many free hosting site ,I guess for those people who have tried it and it doesn't work for them they should rather try paid posting then, if it would work for them because most times the sd storage capacity for free hosting sites are very low

Well, I was a student back then.
Without any personal experience, I wouldn't actually try to oppose something, strongly. I haven't come across any good free hosting website so far. To be honest, I gave up on that completely. It's just... they need to be more upfront about their resource allocation.
I lost many users because of that. Even after 7 years, my website got just 10-15 active members. I really feel bad about that.

10-15 members is really low and what was the site all about i would like to know because 7 years isnt an easy thing i think

many years ago I used a free host but I do not recommend. you better give a penny but stay in front :) you have more benefits.

No, I have heard about that, but I don't know how to get started with free hosting site. Can any one here enlighten me more about free hosting site??

Like 000webhost , it offers you a free host but you don't have many benefits and being free, I don't really trust it. they can close your host at any time + control you as they want. I better give a penny but stay calm.

Its still an option to explore with, with I don't like such case scenario, where I will get a free domain and the site controls me any how closes the domain whenever it suits them. If so, what's good about the free hosting.

I've tried free domain site before, but it's not looking the same with the paid. It's equivalent to a free blog

Well so far I invested so much in my website.
I started it as a hobby and I just can't let it go after all this time. It's an anime forum. If you type My anime forum, then you will find it easily in any search engine. I don't think links are allowed in this forum.
I do agree with the loyal daily visitor count.

I guess the niche is not widely used i would have advice you to pick a niche that many people know about and get more visitors

Well, that is indeed a good idea,
It's just that after all this time, I can't let go of it. With my current budget plan, I can't possibly open up another website. So, I will have to try, the plain old marketing strategies to get more visitors.
Thank you for the advice! I will probably end up opening another website in the near future.

I think you can add to the budget but in my experience doing more marketing strategy might still cost you some money since that is why its preference to open another one

Lately I have been thinking about promoting the forum in Facebook.

I will also make some videos and share them on YouTube as well. So far, I haven't tried social media platforms to gain more members. I tried Google Adwords but it didn't work much. Well, I will try these tips to promote and if they don't work, I will open another website.
