Is this something you offer on your forum?

I recently started using it to encourage posts. When they reach a certain amount of forum cash they can pay to change their username, add a color to their username, use an animated avatar and other options in the store. Most people enjoy this.

Would forum cash accumulate based on the number posts a user generates? I guess what I'm trying to understand is this: How would a user generate forum money?

I have been on forums that did this. You get money as you post. Threads make you the most and regular posts are a smaller amount. Everyone does it differently but the forum cash on the forum I was a member on used it for getting special codes for gaming deals.

Hmmm.. Interesting. This gives me something to think about! :)

Yeah you use it to motivate people to post more or higher quality posts. I have seen it work well on some forums I was a part of. Just makes things funner.

Maybe bitcoin would work. I would love to get bitcoins for blessing people with my knowledge.

What do you recommend?

Forum cash works well for things like different colored names etc. Ive seen people offer services and products when they get to a certain rating or amount in currency, usually based on things like game servers getting 'premium slots' or admin TS servers. You can also look at rating to post ratio and offering a incentive to the 10 most active and relevant posters.

Forums can generate cash. Forums are great for seo and visitors. Forum links are powerfull. This may happen that one day from this forum people will die to post links here.

I use forum cash on my forum. The currency we use is "coins", and you get one coin for every post you make, except for in a couple of sections where it is disabled. Coins can be traded for games or other prizes. It works very well on my forum. :)

On some forums forum cash can be a great way to invigorate members to post and get more active. However on some forums such as more mature audiences, I think they would want more valuable items to get when redeeming forum cash. On forums with younger audiences, some will be content with username color changes while more adult communities would want redemption for real cash, purchasing merchandise, etc.

I guess I'm a little confused. Would the forum cash be in bitcoin or would it have it's own forum economic system? It sounds really fascinating and I think this idea can go viral at some point if it hasn't already.

I have been on sites that use it, but I don't use it myself. I think it is an interesting concept that obviously works for some sites. I could see how users would really enjoy it.

That's actually a really great idea. Then it will make people post on the forum more so that they can get those cool features. I think that's a really good idea to keep people posting!

I've never used it on any of my sites, but it does sound interesting. I know I've been a member of some other sites that had it and I never used it or followed it much. I guess because the sites never really explained it or told users what it was all about. I think if you use a feature like this you really should promote it to all of your users so they are aware of it.

I have seen some sites that do that, and it seems like a good idea. It's a good way to make more people stay on a forum, and to keep them posting even more.
