Forum/blog?

I do think it is a good idea to have them both.
Some software might not be able to support them but it's always a good choice to separate good articles from forum discussions, so that they get quick exposure.
I have heard this but linking from a blog to a forum, is good for SEO purposes too.
P.S. As far as I know phbb software supports them:D

It depends on what genre the forum is.

If it's a webmaster or sports forum then it is a good idea to include a blog as topics like sports, administration, etc can be blogged on and interacts users. Though say a general chat forum, a blog with that would look quite ridiculous unless it's a good idea.

I think it's a great idea to add a blog to your forum, In a way, it's logical. It will certainly give you more topics to discuss about.

It depends on your niche cos if your forum has lots of traffic then adding blog may not be necessary cos it may crash the forum easily.

I think better way you can use both, Because both have own importance. If you are using quality & informative content then blog is really useful.

Yes, I completely agree with you, Thanks.

It really depends. There are so many variables to think about. It may work for your community or it may not. Have you tried asking your community how they would feel about having a blog added to it? You should ask them because ultimately it's going to be them using it. If they're not into it then you have a dead blog sitting on your site.

I think it depends on how they relate and what is your purpose with them. If you want more people to cooperate having them in your forum software might make things easier and make them neatly become part of the same thing, if you rather the blog to stand out, maybe it is better to keep them separated.

Personally, I like the convenience of having them together, especially in projects where the community is the main thing and the blog a tool I want mostly the community to use, rather than it being the first thing people see, but that works with my plans, and for other projects things might be different. The Template, forum software, integration tools, graphics, etc can really affect how the blog looks and feels from the forum even if they are tied up, so it can feel like the blog stand out as if it was its own thing.

Do you think it is a good idea to add a blog on a forum or do you prefer to keep a forum and a blog separate? Why? Do you think it has any effect on the forum, good or bad?
Well. I think creating a blog on a forum will be the best idea.but Keeping blogs and forum separately won't be good for the success of them both.

Forums require a lot of work to make them successful. You must be online most of the time to regulate some of the thing is people are posting. You need to check if is a comment and post of the people comply with Google algorithm. Running a forum can be time-consuming unless you delegate to someone who have experience.

This is the same as blogs because in both you need a lot of moderation in order to keep your forum or blog successful and spam clean you may need hiring moderation team.

I think it is a good idea to add a blog on your forum. Since search engines prefer longer content, blog posts have higher chances of getting ranked compared to the forum posts. Therefore, having a blog on forum helps in organic traffic

I prefer to make the blog separately. for me the forum is a forum, it is not worth loading with all kinds of additional "extensions". if you want to make a blog for that site, do it separately.

Even though I don't have any blog or forum at the moment, but I think the best thing is to separate both of them, because, just as someone already pointed out above, forums should not be loaded with all kinds of extensions.

I believe it is preferable to employ both, as each has its own significance. A blog may be quite valuable if you employ high-quality, interesting information.

Because of the nature of forum posts, it is really difficult to bring search traffic to your forum. Forum posts are usually created by users without any idea on SEO, thus, these posts like focus keywords, and hence they do not rank on search engines. However, when you add blog functionality, it will be easier to optimize for search engine and bring search traffic.
