Facebook Pages vs Groups for Marketing

How would you compare the two? How would you compare the marketing that you can do with each? What have you used, personally? What have you considered using?

With a facebook page, the admin controls everything. With groups, everything is in the hands of the community (if the admin is not exercising tight control). If you can build page and group with a huge following, they can be very effective marketing tool.
