Dungeon Siege is a franchise consisting of 3 games. They are all unique because the owners changed concept of gameplay with each game being published. All of them are RPG games.
First game is quite straight forward. You start as a farmer on the farm and right there you will have chance to pick one of the weapons to go with. You got melee expertise, ranged expertise and magic. Magic consists of two (combat and nature). As you are playing, there is no way to miss your path and skill leveling is based on using your weapons / spells.

Second part is a complete rework of the game when they tried to alter the simple system they had before by forcing you to play in a party with NPCs. Now, here you still have melee, ranged and magic but it is much more advanced because as soon as you lvl up, you get to chose where you want to spend your talent point. There is like a talent tree in which you can go for using 2 one-handed weapons (faster att rate), shield and one-handed weapon (tank), two-handed weapon (stuns). For mages you can go with frost, fire, death, lightning magic.

Last part is not worth mentioning because all fans do not accept it xD
