Movie duel is soooo pathetic from book stand point of view. It looks like Snape does nothing but reflecting curses which is funny. He is a great duelist which was shown in the book. He is most loved by Voldemort when it comes to power because he taught him how to fly without a broom.

Anyway, in the book, when Minerva decided to attack snape out of nowhere, he was so quick that his counter spell almost threw off balance Minerva. And the duel began where transfiguration played one of the most important parts. Severus sending snake on her and she transforming it into daggers targeting him. It was a pretty fair duel however we must take in consideration he doesn't want to kill her and she doesn't understand he is a good guy. And he is only 38 years old.

Anyway, two more professors joined the duel and he had to run away.
