Donating your time a good thing?

Does anyone here donate their time to good causes and uses? I have been considering donating some of my time to help in any areas I can in my local community. Either by volunteering to help, or taking time out of your day to help others without being paid.

Once upon a time, when I was younger, my mother used to go to an older woman neighbor to help around the house and she did it for free, so sometimes I went with her, thereby doing it also for free and easier for my mother

I've thought about it many times, the fact of volunteering, but I've never taken the final step, one day I'd like to at least volunteer in my local community, the future will tell if I finally do it.

My music stuff is non-profit as of right now. In fact, I don't really want to monetize the stuff I got, including the large Facebook page, but economic circumstances would make me, if given a good deal.
