Consider you're buying a domain.
Which one you will select?

Something like draw.it, a name which make sense and looks cool
or another name with .com for a better seo?

i think it depends totally on the site. i have one site that i am building (slowly lol) which i have both the .co.uk and the .com names for - but i am only using the .co.uk one to start with because to start with i need the site to be UK centred - it has such vast potential for growth that i foresee a bottle neck where requests coming in are going to outstrip facilities to meet them - if i can limit the input to mostly the UK it will hopefully allow the site to move past the bottleneck so facilities can be expanded - then go dot com and let the world come in.

on another site which was sort of a joke - i established a religion lol - i used .org because i felt it gave it a more serious less commercial feel.

generally i will look for a .com - but take a .net if cant get .com as i think .net is nearly as wide as.com

It would depend on the name of the site like you said xpl0iter. If it goes with the name, such as 'come.in' or something silly, it would be more catchy and memorable to a user. 9/10 though I would always go for a .com simply because it is more universally accepted in my eyes.

.com or if that's not available .net then .org or a .co.... I got a .biz once because it went nicely with my forum- TeensIn.Biz.
