Does anyone know a plugin which can send out activation mails for Wordpress?

One of my blogs has almost 4000 registered users. I don't see a way to stop the spammers from registering on my blog! If there is a plugin like this, it would reduce the spam registrations to an extend I hope. So does anyone know of such a plugin for wordpress?

Could also use something like sweetcaptcha to slow down the bots...
