Do you use guides when gaming?

Do you guys ever use guides for gaming? Or do you like to just run through the game on your own? I myself like to do a mix. If I get stuck on a tough area, I will consult a guide online if needed. But most of the time I don't use a guide. What about you though?

I do sometimes, especially if I'm looking to earn "completion" or the trophies. I've used them on Kingdom Hearts when I was a kid, which is actually how I found forums. I use them frequently for Runescape and that's about it.
