When it comes to running a site, do you use a private server to host your sites? I strive to have a private server for all my sites, so that my site and content aren't stolen from some internet troll or something.

Anyway, do you host your sites on your own private server? If so, do you like it?

I have never actually hosted my own server however this was something that I was looking into in the future in order to try and generate a website for a business venture that I want to get into. I think that a private server would be the best because then the server belongs to you only and thus will increase your security. This is my understanding of holding a private server.

I don't use a private server for my website because using private server to host a site is quite expensive as you will need to purchase a lot of equipment for a server so I used a public server.

My websites are hosted on shared hosting (shared servers). My websites are small, do not deal with secured information or sensitive information, therefore, shared hosting is just fine.

If you are running a site that deals with financial matters (ecommerce site for instance) or has a lot of regular users (a forum for example), you need to use private servers. This will make your site more secure.

The thought hasn't really crossed my mind though I know that hosting on private server is more super secure. But there's just this tingly feeling that maybe because I haven't infused enough exclusive content yet; then there's no need for that.
But I'll consider later in the future.

I don't have any site i'm running currently. When i finally own a site, i would make use of a private server to host my site. That way, i can feel the sites are secured.
