This is question is actually directed towards the Nigerians on this platform do you see nairaland competing with twitter in the future naira land is a platform just like twitter but it doesn't really have nice interface like twitter but with the proposal to regulate social media do you think this platform can become Nigeria own twitter

Yes Nairaland is even greater than twitter though but I don't see any reason for their comparison, Nairaland is a forum while twitter is a social network, they are both in different niche.

Like it has been rightly pointed out, there is absolutely no basis for comparison. However, Twitter has a global reach that nairaland may never be able to achieve and that is because nairaland is more focused on some groups of people.

Both Nairaland and Twitter are quite distinctive in their nature and performance though their Roles are often intertwined.

When it comes to a single post, Nairaland tends to accommodate more characters unlike Twitter which limit each post to less than 500 characters.

Even Nairaland house some valuable information and threads which you can hardly found on the street of Twitter.

Nairaland is good bit it is just a forum for Nigerians, nairaland currently has three million members which is small compared to twitter's three billion users. Twitter and nairaland are different and should not be compared.

Not yet at the level of twitter, but is very much informative and educative about finance, lifestyle, health, business, online earnings etc. Too many of them nairaland publishes, but I can't still compare it with twitter site that has already established itself as world renowned social media site.

I seriously doubt it, this is a very big ambition although it's very good to be ambitious, but it will be very difficult for Nairaland to compete with twitter.

Twitter is high on the global scale unlike Nairalanda

Definitely different platform but in general, talking about social concepts..nairaland can't stand where Twitter is..Twitter as and international presence/network.its more vast in everything than nairaland, common!.

To be honest I'm not much of a twitter fan...I can't just seems to be able to navigate twitter well but nairaland yes... Twitter is good in its own way but for Nigerians that we are nairaland is better...I've learnt so many things on nairaland that are not even on Twitter wall and it has been my safe haven for years now as I'm an introvert

Nairaland can't compare to Twitter, and it will be hard to replace it.

While Twitter is a social media platform, Nairaland is just a forum.

Sure it has constant news updates and such, but the difference is too vast.

The purposes with which both websites serve is different and I don’t see any reason for this comparison. Nairaland is a forum just like bizdustry where you can interact with users regarding pressing issues while twitter is a social network where you meet with new people

Nairaland mainly focus on Nigerians, while twitter is worldwide Nairaland has about 4 million users which is relatively small compared to Twitter's 3 billion. They are both great forums in their own ways, I don't see any competition.

Nah..... nairaland can't and won't even get close to Twitter at all....in terms of how the sites work and how the admins handle stuffs around the site is quite professional and Interesting. So Twitter is a mile away from Nairaland

Not really, they are not the same they serve different people, nairaland is note of a forum and twitter is much more of a social interaction platform, they both will continue to increase in value and we don't need to compare them to one another.

Nairaland and Twitter are not in the same category as far as I am concerned. While nairaland serves as a forum where people can rub minds together, Twitter is a social media where you can meet people and interact with people on trending issues.

Firstly, both are different platforms. Nairaland is a normal forum just like reddit or bizdustry while Twitter is a social media with a focus on micro blogging. Nairaland despite being Africa's largest forum is crudely administered. It's a bank of useful information but you find some vices that negates a platform of its standard. It's miles behind Twitter in every ramifications.

Being known before another does not limit of the other to being second to the first known, nairaland is doing amazingly great as a forum while Twitter is also not loosing out as social media in its own entity.

on no ground should you compare this two distinct things
you have a personal Twitter account you may want to mix tweets about your research with tweets about other things that are of interest to you, for example hobbies, news stories and general observations. Insights into non-academic aspects of your life can help make you an interesting person to follow.

Nairaland is in a class of it's own, so is Twitter. The two don't share the same features and characteristics. Nairaland may not measure up to Twitter, but it is a very good place to catch up with the latest news both locally and internationally. It is also a great place to obtain credible information, something Twitter might not offer.

You cannot compare the two, like what everyone has been posting, it's a two different platform, Twitter as global recognition while naira land is mostly recognize in Nigeria, although naira land is doing pretty well here in Nigeria, it can never be compared to Twitter
