Do you prefer to get your health insurance through work or outside of work?

Getting health insurance here in Nigeria through work is cheaper, faster and you don't have to deal with the paperwork. It's also deductible from your salary on autopilot so you don't have to remind yourself to pay each month.

When I was working on real jobs, the companies did not offer insurance schemes for the staff. If they offered, I would have gladly accepted. I am a freelancer, so if I need health insurance, I should buy it on my own. However, I do not have health insurance and my term life insurance covers some of the health conditions.

In the UK we have the NHS and with that, we can get free healthcare but in some cases, we do have to pay for certain things if we are working and earning an income.

I do know that most businesses where I live, especially factories offer health insurance as part of their contract which I feel is something that is needed especially when working in a factory.

I am not sure if any other places offer health insurance aside from factories though but it could be possible.

Not all the companies offer insurance. I have worked in a company that never offered any kind of insurance. As far as I know, insurance is generally offered mostly to top level employees or executives who hold high positions in a company. This insurance is a part of allowance.

A lot of health insurance that is signed up using the workplace usually have some kind of bonuses and that is exactly what I will advise people to choose as well.

You are right. If you are a federal worker in my country, you are entitled to some bonuses once you register with the health insurance company, and this is the part that many of them are always taking advantage of. This is why it is preferred that one register while being employed.
