Do you need it to be quiet when you work?

In the past, the noise did not affect me while working. I could still work even when there were noisy kids around. These days I need a quite place to work, I am easily distracted by the noise. Perhaps, this is a sign of getting old.

I am someone who gets easily distracted when it comes to a lot of noise when I am working and that can lead me to end up losing track of what I am doing.

I much prefer it to be quiet or have some kind of background sound such as music playing as that doesn't tend to distract me but motivates me instead.

Really loud noises or even the TV being loud with a show on are what distracts me the most.
