Do you look for discussions with lots of responses before posting?

Most times, I will try to find a discussion that has at least five responses from other forum members before responding. It's fun to read what the rest of the forum is saying about a particular topic and that gives me something to respond back to, so it's more of a conversation, rather than a question/answer session. It's nice to see a forum that has this give and take going on. Just wondering, from the point of view of a forum member, versus forum owner, do you look for new forum discussions where you can be the first poster? Or, do you prefer to find hot topics which have lots of responses, so you can get in on the conversation?

I try to respond at least once to any new discussion, apart from very specialised stuff like in our sports section. Somebody has to create the conversation in order for others to see it and think 'oh great, I'll reply to this too!' :)

Anything that is of interest to me or that I have something to say about I will respond to no matter how many replies there are. I have often been the first to respond to a new thread.

For some reason I actually like to respond to threads with zero responses. I feel bad that someone is trying to start a conversation and no one has replied so I try to get things moving a little. It is also super fun to join in on big discussions but sometimes I feel like no one will read my post on the 4th page haha.

I much prefer to reply to a thread that has a few replies to it as I like to get in on the discussion especially if it's something I am interested, however I don't always do this and if there is a thread that I am interested in replying to that has not replies I will not hesitate to reply and try and get that thread going for more discussion if possible.

Title is the most important parameter taking me inside a post, I do reply if the original post is interesting and I have something to add to it.

I do not really care whether a thread has 1 reply or 100 replies. If the topic suits me, I am likely to respond to it.

I am with Jamie, I respond to anything that I want to add my 2 pennies to, or I find interesting. My posts usually sparks a conversation, which I am not sure if it is good or bad!

It is great to know that your posts are capable of sparking conversations. A forum needs this kind of post to grow as a community.

It depends! Sometimes, i just skip threads with too much replies. But if i can just drop my own comment regardless the other comments like this thread, i post on it! Sometimes, when subject is really interesting and each reply may be a piece of knowledge, i will take the time to read it in full or scan it for awesome replies!
