When it comes to the number of users that there are on your forum, it is important that you are able to give them some sort of insurance that there data is safe when they sign up with you, however you also have to have the data backed up in case you have to reload it on the website if there is a crash. There is no one that will willingly sign up again. Do you keep offline records of your website as well of the members that you have in your forum as well?

I have two data bases hosted in separate hosting. If anything happens to the main database, my backup data base is safe. I can retrieve data and restore my main database again. This has proved time and time again to me. It's always better to be safe than sorry. I find having online backup is much safer than backup in local disk.

Why would you say that having an online back up is safer if i may ask? I would suspect that online back ups also have a chance of hacking just like the main site whereas the other does not.

Well, for me, it depends on the nature of the site and the number of updates or posts I do daily. However, it is generally recommended to back up your website data at least once a week. My best approach is usually to set an auto-backup.

Most data should be kept for future reference because you might actually need it and most of the time, the online data that was kept might be corrupted but offline data will never be corrupted.

most website or forum owners do not take this aspect very serious and i do not know why, the data of your users are very important. some even sell it off to third parties for money.

For me, it depends on the site's purpose and how frequently I post updates or new content. To back up your website's data, however, at least once a week is generally advised. Usually, setting an auto-backup is the best course of action.

When it comes to my personal Record keeping, I store them on both offline means and online means. This is because, I can be rest assured that having both are SAFE.

it is better the have the data of the users on your forum both online and offline as well, incase of uncertainties that do arise, this will enable you not to lose out on valuable informations of your users.

It's good to have the data of one's user both online and offline. This is because anything can happen online. Ome's site might shuf off and in the process of recovering it, one might lose all of one's user data.

I do not keeop user data offline, everything is saved online. I create backup on cloud as well as on my web hosting control manager. However, some of my website back ups are created locally on the computer.
