A universal pardon day is a special day set aside by the forum owner to wipe the slate clean for any member in the forum that's been under ban or warning or account restrictions.

It's a day the forum gives back an olive branch to members to start all over again without any hitches.

Have you been in any forum that have a universal pardon day? Would you be open to having one in your forum?

I think it's an interesting idea, but I think if I ban a user, it's usually got a good reason. A suspension or temp ban is one thing, but if I ban a user, it's usually for breaking the rules too many times. I give people way too many chances as it is, so if a ban happens, that's it for me.

It also depends on what they did. If they were offensive, saying racial and hateful things, then a ban will stick. If it was a tame incident, I may consider unbanning the user.

I do not think there is such thing as universal pardon day on the forums where I am active, I have also never considered pardoning wrong doers on my forum. When I ban people or issue warnings, there is always a proper reason, I do not see why I should pardon these users.

Sometimes I usually feel that everyone deserves a second chance as long as they are open to making amends to what they did wrong in the first place.

I don't know if I would say that I am being too considerate on how I handle some certain people but it's just how I feel.

I believe in balancing compassion with the well-being and harmony of our community. If a banned user has shown genuine growth, remorse, and a commitment to abide by the rules in the future, I may consider granting them a second chance.

This is just it the way I see it completely. I believe in second chances so much and I have given it to a lot of people on several occasions. The one's who are open to learning will embrace it and adjust in order to stay out of trouble.

I am trying to imagine the harm of letting banned members come back to the forum will look like especially when there is a good reason for doing so. If they reached out and apologized for wrongdoings, then I can consider this, but not always in every situation where they dont even care to say sorry for what they did.

This is also another angle that should be considered whenever it comes to allowing any members that have been banned to come back to the community because some of them are going to take it for granted. Since they never made any effort to see themselves returned to the community, but they we are allowed to come back without any attempt from their side in making things right.

I don't have any universal pardon day for any one who was banned permanently in my forum. If you commit an act which makes your account to be banned permanently, it stays that way forever. If you're banned with a time release day, the ban will be lifted after it's over.

I believe that this is the same way most communities handle their procedures for banning members whenever day breach any of their terms and condition. It's always going to be understandable because all members are expected to know and apply those terms and condition in however they are making use of those community.
