Do you ever survey your users for website changes?

If you're in the process of a site redesign, do you ever consult your userbase on your sites/forums? I like to inquire about things by surveying my users for their thoughts and opinions. Sometimes they give us good ideas, and sometimes not so much. It just depends on your preferences and what users are more interested in.

As an owner of a website, it is my duty and responsibility to provide the best content and a user-friendly site with a great user experience. However, I do not consult my users before making changes. I always implement changes that my users will like (because I know my audience). I have never received any complain about recent changes.

This is going to be a great idea, but I do not think that I am going to overburden my forum members with surveys on what and what they wish to see changed on the forum. It is not going to be easy trying to get the best responses from them since they are just there to have fun. So, I focus on brainstorming to find out best possible ways that I can keep the forum up and running.
