Something I have always attempted to do when owning my own community is to ensure that I welcome new members.

As a new member myself on forums, I always take the time to introduce myself and I am always happy to be greeted by not only the members but also the staff members as well and that makes the introduction worth my time.

As a community owner yourself, do you always ensure you welcome new members?

Absolutely.

Indeed, this is the main reason why I don't have my 'Introductions' section paired with my 'Ask Me' section, like most forums do. If I did, the Ask Me threads would drown out any introductions - and each new member would receive fewer welcomes.

I always make sure to welcome new members. I don't have a welcome private message set up on my communities, because I personally prefer the owner to welcome me in either my own thread that I created or in an automatic one. Plus this gives other members the opportunity to introduce themselves to the new person and welcome them as well.
