Conducting quizzes and contests is a very common thing on many websites. You could reward the winners and make sure that you carry out such competitions so that you could engage people and members on the forum or on your website. This may help you to make sure that people find your website interesting and informative. You can hold different kinds of contests and announce winners in the end.

In 2017 I created a multi-author blog. I invited my people to join my site and participate in the contest. Sadly there were just a couple of entries. Therefore, I had to close the contest. I never again organized the contest. However, I am thinking to start another contest in one of my communities that get decent activities on a regular basis.

It is always very frustrating whenever you decide to run a contest and unfortunately you don't have a lot of members who want to participate in that contest making it a complete waste of time and resources for you along the line. This is because you are definitely going to have to pay or reward those who took part in it which wouldn't be worth it for you in that kind of contest.

I was once a member of a forum where the owner was running a weekly contest. I managed to win 6 contests until the owner decided to close the contest. My purpose was fulfilled as I made $60 by winning the contest but sadly the purpose of the owner wasn't fulfilled.

If you have low traffic on your site, you need to consider extending the run contest for a few months until you get a lot of participants. That way you aren't just handing out money and not seeing a return. Some members might be disappointed if they only log in weekly and your contest ran for just one week, meaning they didn't even know about it. Timing needs to be considered carefully.

While your previous experience with a multi-author blog contest didn't yield the desired results, it doesn't mean you should give up on the idea entirely. Organizing contests on your blog or community can be a great way to engage your audience and generate participation.
