I don't own a blog yet. When i do, i think I l would adapt your method of screening the comments first before allowing it on the blog. I think it's a really nice method.
Same here, I also don't have a blog but I think such things are not good, if you own a blog you need to screen out those kind of comment and delete them because they might not be helpful.

Yeah, my point exactly. Some people might post comment that might be irrelevant or detrimental to one's blog. So it is necessary to screen out comments before allowing it on one's blog.

That's true, those kinds of post are to be remove or reported, because it's not going to help in the growth of the blog or maybe forum, users will also be very careful about things like this.

Some blogs or forums give out warnings to users who post comments for the first that are irrelevant or detrimental to the blog or forums. After the first time, they might be banned from that site.

Commenting on blog posts is something I do allow but I tend to have them set to be moderated so that nothing untoward or spam does not get on my blog comments and causes issues for my blog.

I have seen many people who allow guest blog commenting and as much as some people follow rules and do not abuse the system, you do find that there are some even bots that end up getting in and causing spam issues.

I have a policy where the comment will be auto-approved only when the commentator has 5 comments approved previously. This provision helps you to keep spam comments under control to some extent. Moderating entire comments can be very tiring sometimes.

I own a blog and I allow comments on my posts. Commenting is a way to increase traffic to your blog. It also helps to increase engagement on your blog. However it's necessary to monitor the comments you get on your blog to avoid spam.

My blog posts are open to commenting, however, I manually moderate comment. I will approve comment only after screening the comment. I also do not allow suspicious links to be shared with the comment. Normally, I remove comments that do not add value to the discussion. Do you allow commenting on your blog posts?

I would personally say that it is important for you to allowed comments on your blog but everything must be moderated at least for the first three post by anyone who deem it necessary to comment on your blog post. This is actually to prevent people from spamming your blog.

Currently, I am debating this question within my mind. Allowing comments on my blog posts allows for a form of social proof and possible access to more information, but it's also a greater moderation, legal, and technical workload.

In addition to screening the comments, I also have to ensure that I have a GDPR compliant database or risk fines from the EU or put in the technical work to block EU traffic. I'm also concerned that a commenting system will slow down my site on load, meaning that I have to test any commenting systems that I wish to install and pick their code apart to ensure that they are secure and running fast enough not to negatively impact my page load times.

I also think that a blog comment section can make a site look ugly and cluttered. This may depend on the blog, however. If your blog is for research and connecting with your fellow webmasters and bloggers, the extra work above is probably worth it. But if your blog is just to sell your products, it's probably best to eschew the comment section and redirect user feedback into email and subscribing to your email newsletter. This allows you to connect with your customers without the burden of moderation, clutter, and site slowdowns.

I find it very difficult to understand why someone who owns a blog and publish articles on his blog wouldn't allow for people to comment on those articles. What is the essence of publishing articles and not allowing people to comment on it to give their opinion? This is actually what brings traffic to your blog because those people are finding your articles interesting in order for them to desire commenting on it.

The only time I wouldn't allow comments is if everyone is just spamming or I'm dealing with bots and such. Otherwise I keep commenting open for my users if they want to leave a comment or two.

But when people start to spam or act offensive, then the comments are turned off for a while or at least for that post.

Comments show how popular your blog post is. Comments also increase engagement on your blog, and when there is engagement, your bounce rate will be low. When you have a low bounce rate on your site, your site will get a higher rank on search engines. Comments also add additional content to your blog post, which is a good thing for SEO.

Whenever you are not getting comments on your blog articles, it is showing that you are definitely not doing something right with the kind of content you are publishing on your blog. You need to publish high-quality contents that are very engaging so that your visitors will always be pushed to comment on those articles.
