Difference between WordPress.com and WordPress.org

Wordpress.com is the blog websites were you can get to know more about the company, contact and connect with them. Every update about wordpress you can find on the website. But for Wordpress.org, it a platform were you can get or download the wordpress setup or program. You can download and setup wordpress via this medium.

When you decide to launch your website for the first time, perhaps wordpress is your first choice. A lot of people chose to blog with wordpress just because it is very popular and they also say it is easy to use and you don't need coding skills. I want to use wordpress, however, I was overwhelmed by a question. I see two different versions of wordpress, one is wordpress.com and another is wordpress.org. Can anyone tell me the difference?
The key difference between WordPress.com and WordPress.org is who's actually hosting your website. With WordPress.org, you host your own site (we recommend this). With WordPress.com, on the other hand, it's WordPress.com that takes care of all of this for you (easier to start, less freedom).

I i will further add on on that wordpress.com site just as others have said will limit you or restrict you as you are being hosted. This can easily make your site to be taken down but with wordpress.org its not possible to be take down as a site and it has more features accompanied to a dot com type.

I may be using wordpress.org (the one that provides wordpress content management system). By the way, does anyone know how to develop wordpress site locally on my computer? I am interested in building wordpress site locally.

Wordpresss has two functionality, one a blogging platform (which can be used for free or use a premium version with a custom domain), or a content management system (which is completely free).

The WordPress.com and WordPress.org who's actually hosting your website. With the WordPress.org you host your own site. With wordpress.com, on the other hand, it's wordpress.com that takes care of this for you.
I believe this is a very good option for those who may be finding it difficult to get capital. With this WordPress hosted site, one can manage until there's enough capital to upgrade.

Between wordpress.com and wordpress.org I see just slight difference in the domain name. But I be I believe and it is possible for this to website to be the same.

These two domains are operated by the same company but they are different, one is a blogging platform, where you can create free or premium blog/website, and another is a website script

WordPress is a blogging platform. It is one of the most used if not the most used blogging platform in the whole world.the good thing about it is that you can kick-start your blogging journey on the free service.

wordpress is a blogging platform as well as content management system. If you want to use wordpress as a content management system, you need to visit wordpress, org and download the software

I will tell you that wordpress.com is actually the best website for you to start up your own blog and wordpress.org is not as popular as wordpress.com so I advise you to go for wordpress.com.

Please do not leave comment when you do not know anything about it. Wordress.com is a blogging platform were as wordpress.org is contet management system that powers more than 65 percent of the website available on the internet

Looks like a lot of people are really confused about these two platforms. They get confused on what the different version of wordpress are actually used for

You are the one that is getting all this twisted because I expect you to know that this site that I am talking about is actually wordpress.org

Well both are similar but just hosted on different channels, with .com it is more if a free hosting platform, it is usually adopted for blogs while .org is a paid hosting platform

Well, actually they are both different. The domain .com is used for normal or common websites and businesses, while the .org is reserved for government organisations or corporate organisations as well.

You are mixing up things. we are not talking about dot com and dot org extensions, we are talking about wordpress that use dot com or dot org extension.

The WordPress.org from the little I know about them is a free service while the WordPress.com domain you also see, is a free service as well as a paid service they also offer.

True. I just read through your thread again. Well, I know that with the .com extension you have no control over ads placed on your site, you can place ads unless you upgrade the plan and so on. The .org is better overall.

WordPress. Com and WordPress.it is good use to when lunching a website so when I will have my own website I will like to use WordPress because is popular.
