When you decide to launch your website for the first time, perhaps wordpress is your first choice. A lot of people chose to blog with wordpress just because it is very popular and they also say it is easy to use and you don't need coding skills. I want to use wordpress, however, I was overwhelmed by a question. I see two different versions of wordpress, one is wordpress.com and another is wordpress.org. Can anyone tell me the difference?

wordpress.com is a blogging platform that you can use for free as well a paid version. Free version gives you a subdomain where as premium version allows you to use custom domain. Wordpress.org is content management system that you can use to build different kind of websites. Wordpresa.org is a free service.

Wordpress was originally launched as a blogging platform which was later developed as content management system. I have never used wordpress as blogging platform, but I use wordpress as content management system. Wordpress.com is blogging platform and wordpress.org is content management system

The differences between WordPress.com and WordPress.org arise from the differences between hosted and self-hosted websites, so choosing between them largely depends on the level of control a user wants over the design and management of their site.

The WordPress.com and WordPress.org who's actually hosting your website. With the WordPress.org you host your own site. With wordpress.com, on the other hand, it's wordpress.com that takes care of this for you.

Wordpress allow you to setup website with free and with the wordpress.org you can launch a website with charges for it.for WordPress.com you dont have to worry about purchasing but of you are thinking about upgrading it so you can also purchase it.

Of you plan to start your own website one day, and possibly a wordpress site, you should start with free version of wordpress. You will get a subdomain, but you will also gain experience with blogging wth wordpress. Once you gain enough knowledge on wordpress, you cna switch to self hosted wordpress site. You can easily move your content from free hosted wordpress to self hosted wordpress.

WordPress.com and WordPress.org are the same platform but are hosted on different channel. For example WordPress.com is a free hosting platform whereby WordPress.org Is a paid hosting and content management system. The second one is highly recommended because it comes with a lots of features.

The vital distinction among WordPress.com and WordPress.org is who's really facilitating your site. With WordPress.org, you have your own site (we suggest this). With WordPress.com, then again, it's WordPress.com that deals with the entirety of this for you (simpler to begin, less opportunity).

I must confess right now, am lost !
Any difference between blogging and content management system, and are you saying that WordPress can function for both? I Know you can create a free account to get started but the case of contents management

Word press.com and word press.org are actually the same only that they are not on the same channel. Word press.com is a platform hosted for blogging also word press allow you to launch a website but I don't know a lot about word press.org

Wordpress has two functions, one, blogging, that you can use by creating free blog or buying premium plans. If you use wordpress as a blogging platform you don't have to worry about hosting issue. Wordpress will handle for you.

If you got to know about this difference do tell us also because i was also thinking about making blog but i dont know which platform to opt for creating my blog. So kindly help me if you come to know about the details.

I think The key difference between WordPress.com and WordPress.org is who's actually hosting your website. With WordPress.org, you host your own site (we recommend this). With WordPress.com, on the other hand, it's WordPress.com that takes care of all of this for you (easier to start, less freedom), they host your website for you at ease.

Here’s how the cost comparison between WordPress.com vs WordPress.org plays out in practice. This is what it will roughly cost to start a basic website with a custom domain name on either platform:

WordPress.com Personal plan = $4 / mo. = $48 / year. This plan already comes with a custom domain name included.
WordPress.org + entry-level hosting from Bluehost = $2.95 / mo. = $35.40 / year. However, you need to buy it for three years upfront to get a price as low as that. Buying for a shorter time will be more expensive. This plan comes with a custom domain name included, too.

I have heard about wordpress dot com being widely used by people but the other one dot org looks like a cheap domain to me and can't be as standard as the the dot com domain. All the same, let our web designing gurus come up and explain to us

Wordpress generally is a blogging platform that is used by many bloggers. The two which are wordpress dot com and wordpress dot org are used differently.
Wordpress dot org is similar to blogspot. It is meant for those that wants to start a blog but has no domain name and hosting package.
While wordpress dot com is a ready made blog that is installed in our website without the need of web designer
