I think eventually every country would do this by making smaller versions of internet for their country and then interlinking these internets via a secure and monitored links.

This way govts will have full control over what reaches into the citizens of their country. May be they will implement e-passport like systems to visit foreign country's internet! :p

This would be very stupid as there was already fights, and riots in other countries by simply speaking of monitoring, and putting blocks on the internet. Look at the massive black out from our own (US) government. Shit would hit the fan if they did this.

I won't say Iran has made the worst choice. Last few years their nuclear refineries and other govt related systems were being attacked by the US/Israel made botnets and viruses. And now those malwares have escaped to the outer world.

The only best way to stop this is, block the entire US traffic. But most of the hosting companies, DNS servers, search engines are from USA, so they had to take this drastic measure to avoid getting their systems attacked and theft of their classified information along with the layman private datas.

Cyber Wars are never good for Internet. The only ways to stop this are either shutdown the internet like them or govts stop doing this. And we all know the latter won't happen.

They act like people will not find ways around it though lol. Arab spring in Iran anyone?
