I've heard from several different sources that one of the more important elements to a successful website is content, and I'm actually pretty good at producing some pretty decent content, but I'm not seeing much as far as traffic to my site. I'm trying to get it built with some decent, quality content and then adding amazon and affiliate links, when/if I find a program I like enough to promote, but my content isn't really doing much. Should I continue to concentrate on my content, or do I need to segue to something else?

Although good quality content is key, you also can't expect people to just see that content when they have never heard of it.

Doing some good promotion, and having good SEO will result in more traffic. If I put up a website and a lot of excellent quality content, as of now it is just sitting on the internet. Nothing to bring people to it. How will people know that the site and content exists?

Make sure you do some keyword research and try and get on Google for those keywords that relate to your website/content.

Promoting the content on websites such as this one, can also help gain more views. Then of course there is the expensive route which is buying advertisements.

As @Jordan has said, quality content is a key aspect, but how can you expect people to come when you haven't done 'more' to it in terms of SEO?

I do my research on key terms and keywords that I want to target and then write my content around that. Then I'll generally socially share it on all the platforms I use FB/Twitter/G+/Pin/Instagram etc and then use promotional sites to give the link a little more exposure.

Jordan basically said the good stuff though, so listen to him. :p

Content is important but you always need to have a balance you know. You cant just have good content but no promotion whatsoever, so get your content at a high level and promote :D Thats the key to success in a short sentence, now the long version can be covered in maybe a few books xD

Jordan is right! You need to write for your readers. If you have something to write about it, search before for the key phrase people use to search for similar contents. and a little promotion may help! By example, you promote your articles on social medias and add a sitemap to Google (let it index your site)!
