I see my current router has an option for storage. I have been thinking about connecting an old external HDD to it and putting media on it so I can share it across all devices in my house.

Has anyone here done this with their routers? Do you have to do anything on the PC side to share said files across all devices?

My router does not have a storage option, I did not know some router also came with storage option. I have not done this but I hear that if your router has a USB port you can connect USB drive and share it on other devices such as hard disk, printer, etc.

That's a great idea! I did something similar with my router a while back. I connected an external HDD and set it up as a shared network drive. It was super handy for accessing media across all devices. You might need to tweak some settings on your router, but there are plenty of guides online.
