Have you ever run a competition on a website you manage? How did it go, and what was it for? Did you give away prizes?

I've held posting competitions on a few forums I ran in the past to increase activity. I gave away $25, $20, and $15 respectively to the top three users who made the most posts in a certain amount of time. Typically the competition lasted for two weeks. They were all successful!

Well I am currently running a competition on my forum basically to increase activity. I am paying $100 cash for the person who wins. We are having 10 people competing for the prize and increasing slowly.

Competitions are very good. There is this one forum that i am active on called bizdustry and they have had a competition in the past and it seems to have been quite successful.

I once ran a contest on my website and there was just one participant. I failed. I never created another competition. However, I have participated in competitions and contests on many forums and I have also own cash prizes. Competition and contests can bring you activities provided you promote them well.
