Competition

What's your thoughts on competing forums, where they take competition too far? An example would be where the forum's owner is over competitive where he or she feels the need to ban their competitors from their forum?

I have seen it happen to others where they have done nothing wrong but they got banned just for owning a competing forum. Running a forum shouldn't be about competition, but about providing a forum for other people to enjoy.

What do you guys think?

Banning other forum owners on your forum is such a bad idea that, it gives you the worst reputation all around the other communities. I will never do that, and will never want to become a part of that community! :/

I've had this happen before when I was running GamesNation, an owner of another website kept stealing our designs and content so we decided to ban him and his staff so that they couldn't access the site anymore, seams harsh but we couldn't do anything else.. I sort of regret taking such extreme measure but it was years ago..

Why do you regret it?
I would have honestly taken legal action if they were flat out stealing designs and whatnot.

The owner of the said forum use to work for us as a moderator and when he said he'd be making a forum in the same niche we supported him and thought we could be partners. Then he went and stole literally all of our ideas/content, in hind sight.. fuck that guy and his minions.

I think he's working in partnership with the owner of GN over at YouTube now, so I guess they're mates now.

When they take competition too far I tend to push back, sending out my minions to cause hell! Nah, not really. I embrace competition but when it is them literally copying my content then it becomes a problem, so I sick Haze on them.
