Have you ever used a standalone Google Chromecast? How was the experience? Was it the same as a smart TV?

I remember when my brother was staying with me for a little, he had a Google Chromecast and he seemed to use it more so to cast things from his phone to the TV. I am not sure how close to a smart TV it is though.
They're really cool. I prefer the Android TV device though.
The latest Chromecast comes with Google TV pre-installed, HDR support, 4K support etc.
Hopefully will be available sometime this year. Not sure which version of Android they are going to use. My guess is Android 13 with possible free upgrade to Android 14 when available.

I never used my Google Chromecast. I got one for free with my Stadia, but I kept both of them in the box.
Never used one before but know some remote/work from home jobs forbid using one for some reason. I wouldn't be against trying it, but like my PC just fine.
