Can you practice buzz roll on a drumpad?

I've mainly practiced on a electronic drum kit and drum pads.

Now after over 3 years of drumming I still can't do a basic buzz roll and it's killing me because the big band I just have joined have loads of buzz roll in the songs!

Is it possible to practice a buzz roll on a real feel drum pad or do I need to get a snare drum ASAP?

Yes you can practise buzz rolls on almost any surface that allows the sticks to reboud, try putting a sheet of paper over your practice pad to hear your rolls a little louder!
