That's why you need more personnel that can help you out on that one, to prevent any lingering errors that might result when only you is managing it. Cos you still have other job options that needs your attention as the business/company owner.
As the business owner I think that even if you have a bunch of employees there is still a certain degree to which you need to be involved with each integral part of the business like finance and customers and so forth because in a small business any mistake can be easily shown and this is where micromanaging lies. But I think that in bigger businesses the owners allocate a lot of the responsibilities.

Regarding finances and accounting in a business, is it advisable to handle them personally or is it advisable to hire specialized personnel for this work?
Hiring extra hands for such tasks will largely depend on the scale of your business. If it's medium to large scale, you should. If not, you can make do with some management and accounting packages to aid you.
 
I think the only reason why a business owner should handle his finances by himself is if he his a professional or expert in the field. If not, it is better to hire a professional to manage the finances of the business

If you have the skill set to do so effectively and efficiently by yourself, then there is no reason for you to employ another person to do it for you and putting your business on more expenses. Unless you don't have the time to do it by yourself, then it's important to hire a professional to help you out.

This mainly depends on the size of the business involved. When the business is a small scale business and you want to take decisions about finances, l think it's good to do it personally and save the cost of hiring a specialist for that job. But when the business is a large scale business, you have to employ a specialist to allocate finance efficiently since it might be difficult sometimes to take such decisions personally.
 
In business, finance management and accounting is a very delicate matter and should be taken seriously. When it comes to finance management, I strongly advise that it should be manage by the business owner. But in a situation were the owner is barely available and needs someone to manage it, he should carefully select not just anybody but a trusted person
