Budget Device or High End Device

When buying a new device, for instance a mobile phone, computer, etc. do you buy budget devices or high end devices? In other words do you buy expensive devices or do you look for mid range devices. Well, as far as I am concerned, I like buying mid range devices, I cannot afford high end devices. In other words, if I want a mobile phone, I would go for $500-$600 hand set instead of a hand set that cost $1500.
