Have you ever tried it? Personally I get annoyed when I see a blogger posting a link to their blog in the forum, unless they also add content around it.

I'v known this for a while. It is true and I see it all the time as well. Annoying? Depends on the perspective I guess.

If the forum has received some awesome posts from this member, then I think its ok for him/her to post links without much contents.
