Best home grown movies?

What are the best movies that have been made in your home country (by a home grown director)?

I'll have to list just about all NZ made films here

The issue is, we have movies from different languages in India.
I personally see Malayalam(My mother tongue), Tamil, Telugu and Hindi Movies.
Its hard to say which are my favs!

But aren't the majority of Indians Hindi speakers? So wouldn't the best movies be in that language?

In India, each state has its own language. So its like each language has its own movies.
Hindi is being spoken on a few states on North India. In south India almost no one speaks hindi if you're not in some metropolitan city. English and Native Languages they speak but not hindi.
And as a matter of fact, nowadays hindi movies are the worst ones!
I would say good movies are being created only in Tamil and Malayalam.
Of course Hindi used to have lots of good movies but recently it all changed and everyone is concentrating on cheap comedy movies. Sad to say some of those movies I watched didn't even make me laugh at once! :/
