What would you suggest as the best firewall for small networks? For many years I've been using a hardware firewall for our network, but our current one is beginning to fail (fortunately closed) more and more often, so we're going to need to replace it soon. While the PCs run a secondary software firewall, antivirus etc, we'd like to keep a hardware firewall in the mix.
None of the routers or switches we've looked at seem to have decent firewalls and MAC filters. Don't ask about the ISP-supplied router, it only has NAT and is the reason we use a secondary firewall in the first place. It would need to support wired networks, and wi-fi doesn't matter as wireless devices are handled separately. What's really important is that it doesn't break the bank.
So what boxes could you suggest? We were looking at Checkpoint, but weren't sure if their hardware is as good as their software.
