This isn't necessarily just a webmaster question but there is a very experienced programmer out there who is pretty good at what he/she does. But, she/he doesn't seem to be in 2012- more like 2005. Even though she/he isn't that old he seems set in his/her ways. They have said things like: 1. 1and1 is a great domain registery and I stick with that (even though you get ripped off with no free push options + it makes it harder to see anything) 2. You have to pay to host files anywhere decent for files up to 500mb (um rapidshare, 4shared).

Anyway, this hasn't happened to me yet- I'm too young for that :p But how do the rest of you avoid becoming set in your ways? :)

I wouldn't call that person experienced at all. He's just what we call "a frog in the well", the kind who knows nothing about the changes / improvement occurring in the real world or the internet. Rather, the one who's not ready to accept change.
Those are the ones who think "They know it all" and try to ignore you. They'd have enough experience to beat you down in an argument. Basically, even though he'd accept the drawbacks of his choice from the inside, you'll be the one who'll fail eventually trying to convince him.

* Its funny how I remember some senior professors in my college, while I'm reading this thread *

I'm happy that I'm not one of them. Though I would suggest things that I know are the best, I would be happy to accept the fact that you have a better point, if you can prove yourself right.

That's a very nice way of putting it Aashik! :D

"You can teach an old dog new tricks" - With this is mind I always try not to become an old dog. Its hard to keep up with the changes, constantly learning new stuff, but its the only way you can survive in online marketing.
