Are there domains that have been banned before?

A lot of domains are not literally banned but you cab only know it when its your own domain and you add it to WMT (console) and then google tells you why the domain is not indexed.

Domains do get blacklisted if they unnecessarily violate the terms and conditions. Each entity must have laid down policies. Although, domains don't get banned, it will be blacklisted.

From one of my blogger who is a very close friend he said that truly alot of domain do get banned and some also last.

Although I have never heard of any domain being banned like that except the domain should expired and you do not re-register.

You can't 'ban' a domain name, but some services can blacklist domains such as Google so they don't appear in search results. Generally speaking though domains can't get banned because the system doesn't really work in that way.
