If you use too much blackhat methods for link building and other methods of SEO, google will penalize you. In extreme cases they will simply ban you. Have you ever been a victim for google ban?

One of my website has got penalized by google once. But that was just temporary, in a few months the ban was over and traffic started to increase?

Mine got a temporary slap when I bought some crappy backlinks once.... It went from page 1 in a niche keyword on Google NZ, to page 5..... Traffic went from very low, to almost nothing... I was a bit discouraged after that and never really did anything more to the site- I'm not renewing the domain which is up for it this month...

I don't think i ever had a blog or site banned by Google but as mentioned before, I've had very active sites go to almost no traffic quickly. And, i'm sure that was related to a loss of search engine ranking. Though I've never engaged in getting spam links.
