Alexa ranks all the sites, based on some criteria. It ranks every site with a unique rank.

International rank sounds pretty good but do you guys know that alexa takes only "people with alexabar extension" or people who uses alexa search engine into consideration?
In other words, it doesn't really analyze every aspect of the site. Still, will you go for the increase of alexa ranking, by doing some stuff like asking your users to use alexa bar and such?

I do, I love to get high ranked in everything, that's why I do it for alexa as well :D

I think Alexa ranking is one of the most overrated aspects of a site. You'd do much better working on SEO with Google and Bing, instead of worring about Alexa. It's nice to have, to rank high in something. However, it shouldn't be a major goal point.

I heard that, alexa does increase traffic to a site. But the site rankings might go down, after some time.
I don't know what that actually means, but I do believe that, we need to work extra hard in maintaining the alexa rank.

I put effort in improving my website's Alexa Ranking as I believe it means quite a lot, it rates your website and tells you how good your website is compared to other websites in the world. I often check my websites Alexa Ranking, I find it mandatory.

It is but the increase in Alexa rank doesn't really effect the ranking of search engines.
The rank wavers and it can decrease in a matter of days.

I was obsessed with alexa rank but not anymore. I
t is good to some extent but it isn't that helpful for newbie sites and forums.

I am not crazy over my Alexa Rank. But I do like to watch it grow as my website grows as well. Not super crazy in regard to getting users to use the Alexa toolbar.
