Relative peace and security, low cost of living, availability of agricultural produce and less pollution are some of the advantages a rural area has over an urban area.

Yes, there is a big advantage of a rural areas, in rural area you will find many cheap products unlike in the urban cities, but the problem Is that not all things are available.

Rural areas also have some advantages which urban areas don't have,in rural areas one can have land at his own will, which urban areas don't have, one has to struggle before getting land in urban areas.

The differences between a rural area and urban communities is very clear. When you live in a rural area things are cheaper unlike that of urban cities.

These are the advantage of rural over urban area
  • More privacy. In the countryside there’s a good chance your nearest neighbour won’t be directly next door. You may not even be able to spot their home at all.
  • You can have a bigger garden. If you’ve always wanted to grow your own food or have more space for children or pets, this is a huge benefit.
  • You’ll be able to own pets you may have always wanted but couldn’t have owned in a city or town. Cows, llamas and horses are all examples of these. You could even keep hens and have your own free-range eggs.
  • You’ll be closer to the various wildlife of the area and to walks in areas of natural beauty.
  • City-dwellers usually suffer higher levels of stress than those who commute in for work or live and work in the country. There is a reason living and working in a city is called “the rat race”. By decreasing the number of people surrounding you, you could become more relaxed.
  • You can be fully, or semi self-sufficient. You could grow your own food. If you do decide to keep animals, you may also be able to sell produce from them (milk/eggs/honey) to create a small income.

True but do you think things would continue to remain cheap in rural areas due to development? Once development starts coming in I believe things would be different.

They are alot if merit and demerits of urban over rural area.
1. Good roads are in the sites.
2. The town is always lively with social activities going on.
3. Better life style
4. Access to good health and water.
5. Access to 12hours of electricity.
6. Access to maximize security network.

I live in an urban area but I am planning to move to a peaceful and less populated area. The rural area I have in mind is not necessarily the kind where you can still buy cheap and huge land properties but life there is much simpler and relaxed. The malls are 45 minutes away so that removes many temptations. The atmosphere is much suitable for online work as there are fewer distractions other than the birds chirping or insects humming.

Well, there are advantages as well as disadvantages. Rural areas lack a lot of amenities and that's the biggest disadvantageous. There are also limited earning opportunities. However, on the flip side, you get to live a peaceful life.
