Adobe Illustrator vs. Adobe Photoshop

I want to learn how to design logos? Please guide me on which software is best to design logos; Adobe Illustrator or Adobe Photoshop or do I need to learn both to become a good designer?

I think that photoshop is much harder to use because there is a major learning curve for that software and i find that the illustrator is a bit easier to understand.
