One of the things that I see among legacy forum admins is an over reliance on member feedback. A member says they're interested in something, the admin builds a whole new board for that one topic that the member rarely posts in. A member says why not match what another site is doing, the admin builds a whole new section that duplicates but is never as successful the other site.
Do you immediately implement all member feedback? When might you want to ignore what members suggest?
